Was it stopped too soon?

I can see a case either way personally. It did seem like the ref maybe jumped the gun a little bit. However, at that point Juanma was being hit by everything Salido through. He was showing no ability to avoid punches, and hence defend himself.

I say the stoppage was not premature. The crowd's reaction, I think, is attributable largely to the fact that it was in Juanma's homeland of Puerto Rico.

As I said though, I understand the perspective that the ref should have let it go on, especially because it was a championship fight and maybe Juanma should've been given the doubt. That said, I'm not sure what allowing him to go out on his shield would have prooved.

Hindsight, but I think a standing 8 would have applied in that situation.

except there arent standing knockdowns. iirc.

honestly I feel it was early. i said this in the other thread but I think either juanma was gonna fight back a bit more and keep going or he was going to get trapped in that corner and then i could see a stoppage.

but this was not good in my eyes.juanma was still there trading.

I think Juanma would've just got the shit beaten out of him more. would've liked to see it go on a bit longer though

Never even thought about it. I guess I've been watching too much K-1.

That stoppage was early, but Salido was going to continue beating that ass.

I'm glad Juanma went out the way he did. I'm tired of seeing my fellow Puerto Ricans taking a knee and quitting.

This is why Arum kept Lopez far away from Gamboa, he knows he isn't on his level.

This would have been an execution if he was in there with Gamboa.
