K-1 World Grand Prix Yokohama to Be Filmed in 3D

We told you back in January when SKY PerfecTV announced that they would be broadcasting in 3D that it could be home to the first broadcast for a martial arts event. With the rumor being that they would be carrying 3D MMA or K-1 by mid-summer it looks like Tanikawa and co. have gotten a bit of a headstart. Tanikawa has made mention to 3D quite a few times in the last few months, and it was unveiled today that they have been testing out the technology for quite a while, using a few expensive 3D cameras to film a few bouts during the K-1 World Grand Prix Finals in December.

K-1 has teamed up with one of their broadcast partners, Fuji TV, to film the K-1 World Grand Prix Yokohama in 3D, being the first combat sports show to be filmed fully in 3D. Of course the catch is 3D televisions are an incredibly new technology and broadcasting in 3D would sort of be lost on most viewers who aren't equipped with the technology. Tanikawa has stated that they are looking into delivery methods, including airing it in a movie theater in 3D or just waiting until June to air it on PPV for those that do have 3D TVs.

They have mentioned in the summer wanting to begin airing live events in 3D, which would most likely mean the Final 16 could be broadcast live in 3D.

I wish we could get some K-1 and JMMA in 3D here =(

undoubtedly impressive to look at but the movie itself was shit.

The greatest superhero of all time in 3d plus all that other stuff is more epically awesome than words can describe. Humans do not have a word for it. God himself would have to create one just for this but the word it self would be too much for the human race to handle and comprehend.

They should have Fathom events do this.

anything in 3d seems to sell these days and i think with a cool USP like this would have it would probably do pretty well.

It wasn't the greatest movie I've ever seen, the story has been used over and over again in different worlds and settings, but in 3D it is fucking epic. Watching it at home, even in HD isn't that fun. Anyways K-1 or DREAM in 3D is 2000x more epic then Avatar

3D TV? I was thinking it would be cool to watch this in a theatre in 3D. I don't like the current 3D TV's out there right now.

I Havent seen the 3D TVs yet so idk how they are thought it be kind of like the theatre.

Go to Future Shop or Best Buy there's a ton of them there.
