Catch wrestling comes from the north England

Lancashire style CACC was developed in obviously..in Lancashire, but the style itself goes back to the acient Greeks/Romans/Persians.

Its just that in lancashire it was a poor coal mining town, and people would wrestle for money to put food on the table. At that time lots of places in the world did the same thing, especially in the carnie circus circuit.

British sailors picked up lots of differentw wrestling styles across the world and brough it back with them. Billy Riley eventually opens up the Snake Pit, in Wigan, and the rest is history.


So no..not entirly Britsh, but they had a big hand in it.

I like that CACC has gathered so many moves
from around the word,Its pretty astonishing
to see the combination of all those styles
in just one mixture

Styles make fights

and rule sets make styles, and I beleave the formal "rule set" for CACC was developed in Angleland , or America.

Remember wins were decided by 2 out of 3 falls and matchs could last hours but the usual limit was 45 minute to an hour. Falls were decided by either submission, pin fall, or incompacitation (TKO)

This rulset kind of reminds me the Ancient Greek Wrestling
Ruleset where u could win by submisions,pin falls or
pushing your opponent out of the wrestling area(palaistra).
Everything should be performed 3 times.
Oh and remember that the athletes were all naked
and they had to put olive oil to their whole body

Catch Wrestling is for REEL MEN. You cant do catch wrestling if you dont have a mustache.
