Roy Jones Jr. will return to the ring for his third cruiserweight bout opposite Max Alexander, of Camden, N.J., on Dec. 10 in Atlanta, Ga.

A resident of Pensacola, Fla., the 42-year-old Jones (54-8, 40 KOs) has lost three straight bouts, two of them by knockout, as well as seven of his past 12 fights.

Jones was stopped in one round by Danny Green in December of 2009 and then was easily out-pointed by Bernard Hopkins in April of last year.

Meanwhile, the 30-year-old Alexander (14-5-2, 2 KOs) is 0-5-1 in his last six fights, and is coming off a unanimous decision loss to Moyoyo Mensah in October of 2009.

In his last fight, Jones was stopped by 32-year-old Denis Lebedev (22-1, 17 KOs ) with 10 seconds remaining in the 10th and final round in May of last year. It had been a competitive contest until Jones got pinned against the ropes and Lebedev landed a series of brutal punches that prompted referee Steve Smoger to stop the fight.

Its always sad when legends keep fighting long after their primes are over.

Obviously hes not going to lose this fight but its still depressing to see him fighting someone of this quality in what I hope will be his last ever fight. Wish he'd just retire and do commentary
