Stefan "Blitz" Leko
Class.
Titles:
*K-1 European Grand Prix 1998 champion
*K-1 Dream tournament champion
*K-1 World Grand Prix in Las Vegas 2001 tournament winner
*K-1 World Grand Prix in Las Vegas 2006 tournament winner
*K-1 World Grand Prix 2001: 3rd place
*WMA World Heavyweight Muay Thai champion
*IKBO World Heavyweight Muay Thai champion
*WKN World Super-Heavyweight kickboxing champion
*IKBF World Super-Heavyweight kickboxing champion
*IKBF Full Contact World Super-Heavyweight champion
Thai/kick boxing record:
68 wins, 22 loss, 2 draws
K-1 record
33 wins 18 loss
Small for a {super}heavyweight, I think he flits between 205 and 215lbs...... around six feet, or 6'1". Undersized when it comes to the big boys, and the majority of his major fights he was the smaller man.... but the guy is a warrior. If there had been a K-1 Light Heavyweight division, he would have owned it for a number of years.
As it was, he did win the K-1 European Grand Prix, K-1 Dream tournament, and two K-1 Grand Prix's in Las Vegas, plus several world titles in kickboxing and Muay Thai, at heavyweight and super-heavyweight.
Leko has beaten the following K-1 and thai/kickboxing champions:
Notable wins
Peter Aerts (x2)
Remy Bonjasky
Badr Hari
Ray Sefo
Francisco Filho
Mike Bernardo
Mike McDonald
Cyril Abidi
Nicholas Pettas
Alexey Ignashov (x2)
Jeff Roufus
Petar Majstorovic
Highlights of his career.

for sure, thats why it sucks that there isnt a lhw gp, they just created a 63 kg division. Theres so many middleweight-light heavy fighters there missing out on. With the 63kg there just catering to there smaller fighters

Leko would have dominated. Too disciplined for Manhoef, too much to handle for anyone else under 220lbs.
I mean... Leko beat Remy Bonjasky, beat Badr fucking Hari, beat Peter Aerts twice...... beat loads of other champions too. Leko is elite with the HWs, he'd have DESTROYED people his size or smaller.
He'd have been LHW champ for around 7 years now imo!

Perhaps not.
Leko also isn't six feet six. He's the size of an MMA light-heavyweight, and he also holds wins over K-1 champion legends Remy Bonjasky, Peter Aerts, and a number of other top guys like Filho, Bernardo, Sefo, McDonald, Abidi.....
Cant discredit all his top wins man. Leko is a

Not a big fan, but he's good.
Now to continue working on my low kicks until I become Ernesto Hoost.
And by that, I do not mean black.

Leko was in his prime 10 years ago, and won from Badr when Badr was like 18 or something. Leko fought a Turkish guy last sunday of which i didn't even know he existed... It was the most boring fight of the night...

Remco with the best posts in here!
Mr Pardoel, have you ever trained with Mr Leko before? I've always been a fan - he was exciting as it got, and has beaten TOP fighters, champions etc... but he's hardly the biggest around. He'd fight at Light-Heavyweight in MMA, like Manhoef.

Ah, good stuff man.
How is he these days, post-foot break? He's not returned to form - do you know if his training has suffered after the Manhoef fight? (he was dominating Manhoef until breaking his foot in the final round)

Yeah they're basically getting Manhoef killed. Can't give FEG any respect for this.

Re: Stefan "Blitz" Leko
BUMP - anyone have ANY idea what the problems are with Leko these days?
Is he injured? Not recovering properly before fights? Not match fit? I mean, the broken foot against Manhoef is understandable, but come on... losing fights for "treatment" with only minutes left to fight... what is going on?
Has Leko just lost his fire? I'm still a fan, I'm just confused, so if someone could let me know, perhaps one of the Dutch boys...

Totally agree Remco. K-1 badly needs a LHW division so guys like Saki and Spong can shine. Not to mention the we would then have FOUR K-1 WGP's every year!

Piss off Relakz you troll, who exactly has "overrated" him since 2006? Or 2007?
He is underrated. For every supposed longtime Gokhan Saki fan on this board, they should know that is was being Leko's sparring partner that probably helped make Saki the fighter he is today.
Leko's time is nearly done (it is in K-1) and Saki's time is now and coming, but give props where they're due...

Lower than them, but essentially just about in the "legend" category. He's very, very accomplished, and beat the best around.
Losing to cans, missing his peak years (2003 WGP, all of 2004), and fighting long past his decline are the black marks against him.

Thats what I mean. The guy has accomplished things that other kickboxers only dream about.Long layoffs were also a factor IMO
