Post K-1 GP Thoughts?
- Spong looked really impressive in the first vs. Reem. I really thought he was going to pull off the upset. Props to Reem for coming back hard. He had a big look of despair on his face after the first round. That was the only time Reem looked like he was in trouble the whole night.
- Saki vs. Ghita was the technical war I was expecting. You have to figure Ghita's injury was upper body because his kicks were on point. I thought he didn't throw enough punch combos when Saki stepped into his punching range. He could have made life more difficult for Gokhan but I guess he ran out of gas. A KO in the 4th round would have been a nice ending. WAR SAKI
- Aerts eliminating Schilt was one of the the most satisfying results of the night. Even though he didnt win the title, he should be proud of his effort. WAR AERTS
- I pray to god Badr comes back in 2011. And in his first fight, i want to see him rematch Hesdy and destroy him proper.
- I think it's safe to say that whether it be in K-1 or MMA, Overeem would put a brutal beating on Kharitonov. I say this because the K-1/Reem haters always mention that Reem lost to Sergei and can't be taken seriously etc. Alistair would smash Sergei in a rematch
- I really want to see Reem fight a fresh Saki.
- Teixeira was impressive, Errol came in fat
- Overrall a great GP even though it didn't have Badr or Remy. Did Voice mention K-1's big announcement? He twitter'd something about good news concerning K-1's future?

- Aerts deserve all respect and love on this planet.
-Overeem justyfies all his hype, he is a MONSTER
-Semmy Schilt looked tired and not motivated
-Mo needs to go over to MMA, i think it matches better to his Style.
Ghita and Shahrukh Khan- Great Prospects for the future

Re: Post K-1 GP Thoughts?
Overall was a good watch, disappointing spong and schilt didnt prevail after their fights,i thought spong was gonna finish reem.
Peter aerts is the true barbarian champion of it all hands down, mighty mo looked like an amateur, bum rushes and wild swings (not the skill level you'd expect from a k1 final eight)
Im pleased for overeem since he's said many times thats the title he wants, was obvious it was his gonna be his as his last two opponents could hardly fight, but still congrats uberstair..

- K1 without Remy and Badr isnt the same
-Aerts is the real moster
-Not wanting to be a hater but man except for Spong, Overeem was on an easy Title run.

buddha, those were my thoughts exactly. You summed it up perfectly. I think a fresh saki would beat reem. Ghita threw like 4 punches that whole fight, something was definitly up. Tip your cap to Aerts, he looked phenominal both his fighting and his shape. ihave never seen Peter look that good, he was RIPPED! why the hell was king mo guest commentating, he doesnt know shit about shtriking, these guys are everything he isnt, stand up fighters.

Re: Post K-1 GP Thoughts?
Very dissapointed in Sergei, He couldnt recover from that knee
Overeem had an easier road to the final, but hey kudos to him for avoiding being hurt.
Aerts is a legend and beating Semmy is the perfect way to retire
Overeem is a can who is ducking top zuffa fighters like roy nelson and brock lesnar by fighting easy compeition in japan
I would like to see Overeem fight in MMA now, although my heart cries out for a rubbermatch with Badr Hari.

Re: Post K-1 GP Thoughts?
Aerts is the fucking man. To compete at this level after all these years and then to take out Mo and to be the 1st guy ever to get Schilt out of an 8 man...damn. I was pulling for him to have the storybook ending against Reem, but it wasn't in the cards.
Ghita Saki was a fucking war. That 1st round was one of the most brutal rounds I can remember. Those shots hurt just to watch. The pace slowed a tiny bit in the following rounds, but holy shit these guys are both animals. Saki gained a whole new level of respect. His arm / hand had to be broken after that fight or maybe his shoulder was fucked from blocking those kicks, and then he still comes out and was outstriking Reem with, effectively, his right hand tied behind his back because he couldn't use it. I'm thinking the Ghita injury thing was just an illness like they were saying during the show. It probably fucked with him peaking for the fight, but in no way shape or form should it take anything away from Saki. Outstanding victory for Saki.
Reem impressed fighting through the adversity in the 1st. He hung in there and came back. He's tightened up a lot defensively. Oh btw, fuck the stupid fucking 1 handed clinch rule.
What the hell has gotten into Teixeira? And on the flip side, what the hell is happening with the bonecrusher?
I think Gerges should have been the reserve fight. The way they sacrificed Fujimoto to him was a bit disheartening.
And last but not least Sergei

IF saki can take it to Overeem after being fucked up by Ghita and do it with ONE hand a fresh Saki could beat him.

Re: Post K-1 GP Thoughts?
Gokhan Saki could have won if he didn't get so trashed against Ghita
Seeing Aerts in the finals was amazing, man has endless heart
Good to see Reem take his first k-1 title

According to Schiavello, Ghita told him his injury was to his right instep.
And he was still throwing those kicks like a motherfucker.
Unreal.
Re: Post K-1 GP Thoughts?
im not in denial as much as i was last night, but still pissed spong fought the way he did after the first, i guess he really wanted to prove he can schol reem like he did back in the day, but trading power 4 power was so stupid.
it dont matter, reem will hopefully stay away from k-1 and leave and let spong rule K-1

Man, fucking respect to peter aerts, a truly stunning performance put on by mr. k-1. What an awe inspiring fight!
Mad props to ghita vs saki and for saki's two attempts at spinning hook kicks to reem. 100% saki vs reem would have been mental!
And king mo lawal giving a shout out to bloodstain, wasn't expecting tht, he's gone up in my books after the mousasi 'fight'
war k-1, one of the best events this year with ease!

Besides Sergei losing and the cost cutting in the production value, I was overall very satisfied with the event

Well done to Alistair,
i just cant help but think it is slightly de-valued by no Badr.

i think it would be a cool theme of the yokohama season opener to have the losing semi finalists face each other for the official 3rd place.

Aerts won the heart of everyone who watched the GP, I was impressed by Ghita too, Voice was talking about him being terribly sick and sweating a lot on before the fight, yet pull off a satisfying performance against Saki
