Moving to London
I'm moving to London next week for work probably for around six months as Ireland has become a third world country over-night.
Can any of you recommend some decent Gyms not too far from the city centre?
I'll probably be living around Kentish Town.

All I know is, if I were a southerner/Londoner, I'd definitely want to train at London Shootfighters.

Re: Moving to London
I can't recommend a good mma gym near kentish town but there is a boxing gym near there as well as some shaolin thing. I haven't been to either. If you're willing to travel I can recommend muaythai and bjj gyms
Edit: just remembered there is muaythai club in Camden Lock. I don't remember the name though.

Re: Moving to London
Yea anything with grappling, either judo or bjj.
I'd be willing to travel within a five mile radius or so.

Re: Moving to London
There's a Roger Gracie branded academy in Mill Hill area, run by Nicholas Brooks who got his black belt under Roger Gracie. That's where I train when am not injured.

As of muaythai the best instructor I have ever trained with was Winston Fraser who was the double european champion and triple british champion. Attending this class for me took my skills from beginner to a good level within a few months whereas when I was training elsewhere there was too much pad work and too little sparring. Besides each session I got to sparr with the best thai-fighter in the uk.

I haven't been training with him for some time now due to injuries but I believe he teaches near Bethnal Green at the moment.
If you are an active fighter and want be among other active thai fighters Diablo is good, but if you're beginner/intermediate you won't learn much but it's still a good workout and your fitness will be at fighting level very quickly.

Close to Diablo ^^ there is also a Judo club, not competitive at all but it's good for beginners (http://barnetjudo.co.uk/)
There's another Judo club which is really good and a there are few people there who compete in the Olympics but I don't remember the name, I only went there once before tapping out to my injuries. I will ask my friend and post more details soon.

Re: Moving to London
Thanks a lot man....that's very helpful.
It's between gracie's place and the second Judo club you mentioned for the grappling and I might give the Muay Thai a go,I'm sold.... although I'm no more than a beginner.

Re: Moving to London
At the roger gracie's academy I think they have started doing some Judo as well and the grappling is at a much higher level than the Judo club so that's probably more worth it if you are thinking mma.
