Rowdy Roddy Piper

I don't know much about wrestling, since I haven't watched since sometime in the 90's, but I have to say the most underrated wrestler of all time is Rowdy Roddy Piper. He cut the best promos and could perform in the ring like nobody's business. He never achieved what he should have given his talents, and I feel like he was held back in promotions purposefully. It seemed like he was never treated like a top draw when he easily could have been.

One of my all time favorites...His mic work is legend but his in ring work is criminally over looked.

Its hard for me to comment on who's top & who's recognized & who's not. But I watched Piper during his heyday & he was the most popular heel at the time. The top bad guy. That's no easy feat. I liked him alot.

His son Colt is in MMA now too.

Read Pipers book a few years back and it was great. He was a lunatic in real life. Always willing to beat the shit out of anyone at the bar who said wrestling is fake. By the way, his promos were great because he was all coked up for them. The snorted coke all the time and drank more.

I never read his book, but I did a 4 hour shoot interview with him a few years back... the man definitely has some stories.

Also, They Live was fucking awesome. As underrated as you can call Piper as a wrestler, that movie is twice as underrated in cinema. Should be a Sci-Fi classic, but it gets zero recognition.

Piper underrated? Never. Awesome on the mic, even better in the ring. Sold well without overdoing it. Probably the first heel to get over regardless. Hell, I didn't even know he was supposed to be a "bad guy" until well after I stopped watching wrestling in the late 80's. He was always one of my favorites, and has just gone up in stature going back now and watching some of his matches. Pure brilliance.

haha yeah. A lot of people accused him of being racist for that. As they do to anybody who acknowledges that there's races. Cause they're stupid.
