Muay Thai...has everything Dutch kickboxing does, plus the Thai guys are usually stronger with the clinch work and knees

Re: Dutch Kickboxing or Muay Thai ?
Thai Boxing is thai boxing. Kickboxing = catchy name derived from full contact karate with boxing gloves... kicks and boxing. It's an American term.
The Dutch train Muay Thai, it's just that the K1 guys obviously don't need to learn elbows, and now clinching. Which is a shame, but.... ah well.
Just means less Thais cleaning up in K1 MAX

I prefer Dutch style MT, far better hands. Thai's usually have little defense, and just bang out until one is still standing.

Re: Dutch Kickboxing or Muay Thai ?
European MT fighters seem to have a straighter stance and are more powerful because of it. It's fucking stupid to compare them as if there were a different sport or style. They both focus on the eight limbs, just like savate.
Classic examples of Dutch Muay Thai are Rob Kaman and Ramon "the diamond" Dekker

Re: Dutch Kickboxing or Muay Thai ?
Dutch style Kickboxing > traditional Muay thai.
Stronger hands. Stronger Combo's. Stronger lower/middle kick attacks.
You cant deny the ability of guys like Krause,Aerts,Masato ( Dutch stylist), Dekker,Souwer(shoot boxing) , and Rutten to name a few

different style for different rules...i really love watching both but the thai style will always be smoother and more technical in my eyes. besides muay thai style caters strictly to the gamblers.

I love both.
If I had to pick, I would go with Dutch. For the footwork and evasive aspect of the Dutch fighters to dodge shots and the miss, counterpunching/kicking.....as opposed to the blocking the shot / taking the shot and countering. Plus their combos are sick. The Thai's are great but they rely on the conditioning of the body and limbs to block the shots (which is excellent) more than the evasive maneuvering, which i think is better.
But the clinch work in Thai fighting is a thing of beauty. Very technical and to see a fighter break down the others will and conditioning with strong knees and elbows. I wish K1 could adopt a clinch.
Nothing is 100% but I think the Dutch style is more of a science and the Thai style is more of a war of attrition.
I give Dutch the slight preference in a squeaker. To me, this is like picking your two hottest chicks in the world and asking who you would want to fuck more.

Re: Dutch Kickboxing or Muay Thai ?
Proper Thai Boxing is a different thing to the diluted version we see in K1 and other kickboxing organizations.
With Muay Thai there is far more emphasis on kicks. Kickboxing in general tends to be hand-focused with the odd kick thrown in.
Give me a real, from the mountains, Muay Thai fighter over anyone else.

Re: Dutch Kickboxing or Muay Thai ?
dutch kcikboxing ( mikes gym style) is boxing and then end the combination with a kick or knee.... Muay thai is more one kick, and then one punch etc etc
check my signature for some muay thai

Re: Dutch Kickboxing or Muay Thai ?
Not at all..
We have ok Judo, (sports Jiu Jitsu) and ThaiBoxing.
MMA / BJJ / Grappling we got thrown back a few years back due to some greedy assholes
Boxing ... we run behind
(we have some talent ...but is one or two)
Wrestling. It is really sad that we have only a few clubs in the Netherlands. Till the 60's it was big. Geesink won with Judo and Judo went mainstream

Dutch style Kickboxing is more effective IMO. That said Muay Thai is one of the few traditional martial arts that are effective modern day.

I wouldn't say it's more effective personally, it all depends on the situation, and the rules of course. I think a good combination of both is good. The Dutch style is a lot more fast paced, where as the traditional style is more "patient" if you know what I mean.
Re: Dutch Kickboxing or Muay Thai ?
muay thai. more brutal, and i personally like the clinching aspect of it.

Re: Dutch Kickboxing or Muay Thai ?
I prefer Dutch.. I get impatient with clinching, although I know it is very affective depending on the situation.. still prefer Dutch style, I am all about the striking.
