Oh, you fucking shit cunt!!!

Hey, YOU'RE the one who didn't name Buakaw as a legend of the standup game!

Fletch gets OWNED by 'The Voice' 976936

lol, well I still consider Leko a legend anyway.

*K-1 Dream tournament champion
*K-1 European Grand Prix champion
*K-1 World Grand Prix USA champion (2x)
*World Heavyweight Muay Thai champion
*World Super-Heavyweight kickboxing champion
*Beat legends and/or champs Peter Aerts (2x), Remy Bonjasky, Badr Hari, Alexey Ignashov, Nicholas Pettas, Ray Sefo, Mike Bernardo, Francisco Filho, etc

Plus, in his prime the BEST boxer in K-1 and one of the most exciting I've seen.

THAT makes him a legend, in my book

Yessir

The most important thing imo is, TT is quickly becoming a fanbase for thaiboxing/K-1, quality strikers and Golden Glory

I will not stop until Leko, Manhoef, Alexey, JLB and other top lads out of K-1 who dont get any love, GET love. I will bombard propaganda until fuckers spend time on kickboxing.core and youtube watching this shit, going "wow, in his prime this fucking guy was the MAN!"

It's all good in the hood

A lot of noobs were saying he's a French coward on sherdog, after the Kyotaro fight.

Shit, even a longtime fan in Stu was saying how glad he was that JLB wouldnt be going to the WGP 2010 finals.....

On the whole though, over the years, he does get a lot more love than the others.... now with Leko, Alexey and to a lesser extent Manhoef, that's REALLY underrated to say the quality and entertainment/excitement level of the fighters involved. I just wanna spread the love!

Manhoef and JLB get nothing but love, deservingly so. Alexey doesn't because of the waste of space and talent he has turned into and how lazy/unmotivated he is.

Leko was good and fun to watch, no doubt. Calling him a legend is a stretch.

Calling someone a legend is subjective,every fan/analyst/commentator
has different standards and measurments. At least we can all agree
that Leko is a guy that has succeeded a lot in the kickboxing/muay thai
world and is a guy whose highlight reel is more than a pleasure to watch

Leko was too inconsistent to be of legendary status. You may consider him a legend for personal reasons, though. I consider Tim Sylvia a legend for a few reasons.

Leko was a badass, for sure. He just lost a lot, too.

Exactly. Awesome post, awesome viewpoint.

Sadly, there isn't really a great HL reel of him that incorporates his best fights. I hope TT's own STILLWILL is the man for the job!

In most of my arguments with Lane re: Leko (in the Leko thread, chatbox, twitter, etc) I freely admit that 22 losses is a lot. But Hoost, Aerts and other legends have similar numbers of losses.... these guys fight the best multiple times a year, and they all lose more than top boxers and MMArtists.....
....and bear in mind, Leko was 6ft or 6ft 1, and only 210-220lbs. He was undersized in a lot of his fights, ALL of his major ones, a very small HW, yet put together a career that makes some (not all) consider him a legend.

At the end of the day, if there HAD been a K-1 heavyweight title back in 2001 like there is now, Leko would have probably held it for 7yrs, and no one would even doubt his status as a 'lege'.

Pre-prime Leko vs Hug apart (awesome btw - the two best small HWs I can think of) the only man I can really recall beating Leko STYLISTICALLY was Ernesto Hoost (though Hoost WAS bigger) who neutralised his boxing and matched his kicks. Generally, guys beat him cos they were bigger/heavier/taller/both. Not only that, but after being thrown in the deep end early in his career at K-1, he began to peak in 2003, went 5-0, beat Aerts, Filho and Sefo, and was favourite leading into the WGP. Then K-1 booted him out (and Remy, who Leko had recently beaten, won the GP). Then he took a 2yr hiatus from K-1 - and we never saw him that good again.

Fletch if you believe Leko is a legend then he's a legend!

You're wasting your energy trying to convince others.
