Philip H. Anselmo: I am a firm believer in Nonito Donaire. I need to check the size difference, because I’m not sure off the top of my head. Montiel is a slick dude…and he hits pretty hard too. HOWEVER – I think Nonito is destined for greatness, so I’m picking him to outbox and outpunch Fernando, probably earning a well-deserved unanimous decision or a late-round stoppage, say ten. Truth be told, if either guy wins by early round knockout, which could definitely happen with these two boxer-punchers, it would catapult their careers. Especially if it’s Donaire who does the KOing! And if that happens, Manny’s gonna have a rival right smack-dab in his homeland in popularity.

I'm going with Nonito Donaire to beat Montiel. I just think it's a pretty bad fight for Montiel. Donaire is the bigger, rangier, and faster boxer. Montiel always has problems with these types of fighters. Montiel tends to keep his hands low and stands up straight for a short guy. He finds most of his success when he is countering off of exchanges. When he does exchange, he squares up his body and keeps his chin in the air. Donaire isn't going to exchange with him, unless he is stupid. If Donaire fights as a southpaw, he'll find a lot of success. But if he fights orthodox, Montiel will have better chances at landing the overhand rights to knock out Donaire.
