Antonio Margarito and his camp mock Freddie Roach

We here at Rabbit-Punch.net take pride in not being bias towards fighters. I mean we make it no secret when we are huge fans of fighters. But for the ones we don’t like, we choose to be professionals, and not talk about our dislike for them. In all honesty and fairness, I respect Antonio Margarito’s abilities. I’m a huge Manny Pacquiao fanboy (WAR MANNY), but you can’t deny the fact that Antonio Margarito is an excellent boxer and exciting fighter. Now that being said, as great of a boxer I know Antonio Margarito is, you can’t help but not ignore the fact that his legacy is tainted. Margarito has wins over names like Miguel Cotto, Joshua Clottey, and Kermit Cintron. But were any of those wins and many of his other fights fair fights? The controversy behind his hand wraps, loaded or not, in my opinion has destroyed his reputation among fight fans. Personally I don’t think he should have not only been banned from the sport of boxing, but perhaps spent some time in prison.

Boxing is known as “the sport of kings”, but there is nothing regal about a cheat and a fraud. It bothers me from time to time knowing that the sport of boxing has become so corrupt and so political. It blows my mind knowing that a world class fighter like Antonio Margarito would even stoop to levels this low. The sport of boxing is still making money, people worldwide are still watching, but the sport’s reputation isn’t at the same level of respect as it used to be. Antonio Margarito not only cheated wearing loaded wraps, he cheated on the fans, and true lovers of the sport.

Which brings me to this, Margarito and his camp stoop to another low. Mocking Freddie Roach’s medical condition known as Parkinson’s Disease. Apparently this footage was originally unedited and uploaded video by journalist Elie Seckbach and FanHouse. It was quickly removed within hours of it appearing on Youtube, however many fans have downloaded and re-uploaded the footage over and over again. Margarito’s camp has even come out recently to the media and claimed they didn’t know Freddie Roach had Parkinson’s Disease. We all know saying and doing outrageous or offensive things is nothing new in the combat sports world to promote events. However personally, I believe you don’t need to say or do outrageous things to promote events. Let your fists do the talking and settle disputes in the ring like a true professional. It’s put up or shut up time come Saturday and may the best man win.
